Meet the new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport!
Bugatti has delivered the first of two hotly-anticipated new Chiron models promised for 2020 – and it looks astonishing.
The new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is a hyper car that has winding roads in mind. The new flat front end, dynamic design and impressive 1.9m rear spoiler is part of a new aerodynamic set-up that produces more downforce through corners. Exceptional handling meets exceptional speed.
All of this monster’s focus is on new aerodynamics, weight reduction and better power distribution. At around 50 kilograms lighter than the ‘standard’ model, the Chiron Pur Sport includes the same 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine underneath its skin.
The output is the same – 1,500 bhp with 1,600 Nm of torque – but the engine speed has been upped by 200 rpm to 6,900 rpm total. It is mated to a freshly tuned transmission that features a new overall gear ratio. Gears are configured 15% closer together for more agile handling and ferocious power delivery.
Last year Bugatti earned plaudits for its record-breaking Chiron Super Sport 300+, the first road-legal production to break the 300mph barrier. But the French marque insists the new Chiron Pur Sport delivers extraordinary, tangible performance throughout the entire range of speed.
Chiron Pur Sport boasts 'incredible' grip
“We spoke to customers and realised they wanted a vehicle that is geared even more towards agility and dynamic cornering. A hypersports car that yearns for country roads with as many bends as possible. An unadulterated, uncompromising driving machine.” said President of Bugatti Stephan Winkelmann.
He added: “The Chiron Pur Sport boasts incredible grip, sensational acceleration and extraordinarily accurate handling. It’s the most uncompromising yet agile Bugatti of recent times.”
It features enlarged air inlets and a striking front splitter, as well as enlarged rear spoiler and new diffuser. A new optional wheel design is also available to aid aerodynamic performance and brake ventilation. Bugatti has paired with Michelin to develop new Bugatti Sport Cup 2 R tires exclusive to the Chiron Pur Sport for improved grip.
The new chassis is made to enhance firmer suspension. Front springs are 65% firmer than the standard Chiron, while rear springs are 33% firmer. An adaptive damping control strategy improves performance.
A busy start to March with McLaren's new 765LT launched on the same day!
