Say hello to Porsche’s new 718 GTS 4.0 additions!
Porsche has launched two sport and high-spec models to its mid-engine sports car range: the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. And they look incredible.
The stunning new two-seaters are powered by a 294 kW (400 PS) 4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, like that used in the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4. Combined with a manual six-speed transmission and sports exhaust system, these two beasts produce awesome power.
The new Porsche 718 GTS 4.0s can sprint to 100 km/h in a rapid 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 293 km/h.
The mighty 4-liter engine is also very economical. Its adaptive cylinder control alternately switches off one of the two cylinder banks at low loads. Direct fuel injection with piezo injectors and a variable intake system add to its efficiency.
The GTS engine impresses with superior power reserves and effortlessly revs to 7,800 rpm. Thanks to the standard sports exhaust system with dynamic damper control, the two new 718 GTS 4.0s sound like thunder.
Both Porsche 718 GTS 4.0 models adopt the twin-tailpipe sports exhaust system with integrated gasoline particulate filter from the 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4. With its saddle-type design, this creates space for the contrasting black rear lower section that was specially developed for the GTS models.
Improved handling, more balance
The handling is improved thanks to standard Porsche Activation Suspension Management (PASM) sports suspension, as well as a 20-millimetre lower ride height. Both 718 GTS 4.0 cars feature Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with machinal limited slip rear differential means the new GTS generation comes extremely balanced and rewarding to drive.
Both mid-engine sports cars are fitted with 20-inch light alloy wheels in Satin-Gloss black. High-performance tires (235/35 ZR 20 at the front and 265/35 ZR 20 at the rear) surround the enhanced brake system, which features cross-drilled discs and red calipers. Ceramic brakes are available as an option on both new Porsche 718 GTS 4.0 models.
Alcantara covers the interior, while both models come as standard with Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen. Also featured is the Sport Chrono package, including the enhanced Track Precision App. This shows performance-related data while in track use.
