Two Wheel Thursday: Speed & Style, Lewis Hamilton and his MV Agusta

Today’s #TwoWheelThursday looks at boutique manufacturer MV Agusta and their partnership with F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton.

If you’re unfamiliar with MV Agusta, I don’t blame you. As a boutique manufacturer they’re not in the spotlight too often and they certainly don’t have the marketing reach of their other Italian rivals – but that makes them no less impressive.

I’ve always referred to MV Agusta as the Pagani of motorcycles. Rolling pieces of art that belong on the track as much as they belong in the living room on display. And as such, it’s only right that MV Agusta secured a partnership with the F1 king of speed and style, Lewis Hamilton.

The machine in question is the MV Agusta F4 LH 44. Based on the range topping F4 RC, the machine puts out 205 horsepower from the Italian inline-four motor. With a silencer kit from SC Project exhausts it bumps the power to 212 ponies. But where the machine really makes its mark is in the design – it’s simply stunning.

Working closely with Lewis Hamilton, the team at MV Agusta was able to incorporate the drivers signature flare and attention to detail. The machine is finished in Candy Apple Red and features a white frame. Although it rests on Ohlins suspension, MV Agusta was able to have the famed suspension manufacturer colour the forks black to suit the aesthetic. The seat is a diamond stitch mix of alcantara and leather, reenforcing my aforementioned comment about Pagani. The fairings are made of carbon fibre, the wheels are forged and there’s a racing style fuel cap. Even the Pirelli Supercorsa SP’s were custom designed with red sidewalls and the logo of Lewis Hamilton.

As you can see my previous analogy to Pagani is well suited. MV Agusta without a doubt creates the finest pieces on two wheels and if they’re good enough for Lewis Hamilton, they’re good enough for me. As you might imagine the MV Agusta F4 LH 44 was limited to 44 machines and if you’re fortunate enough to see one in person, be sure to take it all in – they’re a very rare machine.
