Pitstop Comparisons across Motorsports

Have you ever wondered about the Pitstop comparisons across motorsports? WTF1 takes a look into the differences between F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, Formula E and Endurance Racing.

Below we’ve compiled a breakdown of the Pitstop comparisons across all of the Motorsports mentioned in the video:

Formula 1:
• 4 Tire changers
• 8 Tire carriers
• 2 Stabilizers
• 2 Jackman
• 2 Front wing mechanic
• 1 Fire extinguisher
• 1 Starter man

Formula E:
• No mechanical services are performed due to battery restrictions
• Only damaged tires can be replaced during pitstops
• Drivers have to switch from one car to the next at pitstops
• Teams and drivers have to find ingenious ways of doing up seat belts

NASCAR:
• 6 individuals are allowed to go over the line during a pitstop
• 1 Jackman
• 2 Tire changers (there are 5 lugnuts, as opposed to 1 in F1)
• 1 Gas man
• 2 Tire carriers that bring new tires

IndyCar:
• 6 individuals are allowed to go over the line during a pitstop
• 1 to activate the car’s pneumatic jacks
• 1 Gas man
• 4 Tire changers (they also clean the car, fix the wing, etc.)

Endurance:
• 5 individuals are allowed to go over the line during a pitstop
• 1 Gas man
• 4 Tire changers (they also adjust aerodynamics and replace brake pads)
